Rules
- The object of the competition is to score points within
24-hour time limit by finding checkpoints located on the
terrain and depicted on the competition map.
- The points value of a checkpoint is equal to the first digit
of the checkpoint number. The points value depends on tactical reasons,
difficulty and remoteness of the checkpoint.
- Checkpoints may be visited in any order.
- A team's score is the total value of the checkpoints
visited by the team, less penalties. Late returns are penalized
by deducting 1 point for every started minute.
Teams finishing more than 30 minutes late are deemed ineligible
for a placing. The team with the greater score, or in the event of a tie,
the team which finished earlier, is awarded the higher placing.
- Members of each team shall remain within unaided verbal contact
of one another at all times whilst on the course. A team shall
demonstrate compliance with this requirement to any event
official or other team on request. The competitors shall not
deliberately rest within sight of a checkpoint.
- On the course, i.e. during the competition outside the event center,
competitors can use only food or other supplies taken along from
the event center. The only exception is drinking water offered by
organizers. The only navigational aids that may be carried
on the course are maps provided by organizers, own compasses and watches.
Competition Details
- Number of members in a team can be either 2 or 3.
- There are three gender classes of competition:
Men's teams (M), Women's teams (W), and Mixed teams (X),
the latter being all teams that contain at least one female
and one male rogainer. Within each gender class, all teams are
in the Open age category. In addition, some teams are
eligible for restricted age categories as follows:
- Junior (J): all team members must be under 18 years
of age on the first day of competition.
- Veteran (V): all team members must be 40 years of age
or over on the first day of competition.
- Super Veteran (SV): all team members must be 55 years
of age or over on the first day of competition. (Note: all super
veteran teams are automatically in the veteran category also).
- Punching system: punching a scorecard and filling in
an intention sheet on a checkpoint.
The organizers also consider a possibility to use an electronic punching system.
Detailed information will be available later.
